I am sharing with you an invite to attend New Worlds: India in a rapidly changing climate. This is a digital series on COVID-19 and climate change that is being curated by the India Climate Collaborative. The India Climate collaborative is the first-ever collective response by business and philanthropy in India, to drive greater climate ambition within the country.
On the year that marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and was scheduled to convene a pivotal international climate conference, we run the risk of losing steam just as the global crisis makes clear the necessity of urgent climate action. In an effort to build the climate community and invigorate India’s climate narrative we have created New Worlds: India in a rapidly changing climate, a three-part digital series to discuss resilience and recovery in the face of our two planetary challenges: COVID-19 and climate change scheduled for May 9th, May 16th, and May 23rd.
In the first event, scheduled for May 9th from 7-8pm (Resilience, Hope: India in the time of COVID-19 and climate change) we will kick-off the series with a conversation on resilience and hope with Jairam Ramesh, Former Minister of Environment & Forests, Rohini Nilekani, Philanthropist and Founder Chairperson of Arghyam, Navroz Dubash Professor Center for Policy Research, that will be moderated by renowned Indian television journalist, Barkha Dutt. The COVID-19 pandemic is a stark reminder of the inequities in our vulnerability to global threats, inequities that are heightened by a rapidly warming world. We ask, what lessons are we learning from this crisis that will help us build a resilient, equitable and sustainable India?
Date and time: Saturday, May 9th, 19:00 IST
We look forward to seeing many of you at the event! Do circulate the invite to those who you think are excited to learn more. We will share with you the invites for upcoming events as well.
